Blackjack was developed with simplicity and travelling gamblers in mind, allowing them to easily embark in a game just about anywhere, so long as they had one deck of cards and at least 2 players. As a result, the multi-hand blackjack was developed. Few people today play single-deck online blackjack and when they do, it's usually in the face down layout.

With multi-hand online blackjack, a smart player may still find it profitable though it won't get the player very far unless he applies the proper blackjack strategy. Instead of counting each card, with multi-hand blackjack you'll probably prefer to identify the deck as high or low. However, many online multi-hand online blackjack games have abandoned card-counting as a whole and instead use the face down format or apply what we call an "infinite deck".

Whatever your preferences are at an online blackjack table, remember, what's most crucial is when to hit, stand, double down or split. It's quite simple finding a standard hit/stand strategy that will lessen the house edge to nearly even, but then there are those players who will go as far as breaking down their strategies depending on the size of the shoe. A standard multi-hand blackjack strategist will advise to always hit at 16 if the dealer has an up card of 17 or higher, though more specific ones may suggest otherwise.

You can either develop your own multi-hand blackjack strategies yourself through practice or, you can easily find them online. In order to get the most out of your multi-hand online blackjack experience, you'll have to find out if the rules indicate that the dealer stands at 16 or 17 and you'll also need to know the size of shoe your table is pulling from. With this in mind, you shouldn't have too much difficulty finding the right blackjack strategy for your game.
