Renowned for its history, architecture and culture, nothing describes Saratoga better than the Saratoga Racetrack.  Its 350 beautifully landscaped acres are the diamond of this small New York town of 26,000.

Saratoga Racetrack shares its hometown with the National Museum of Racing and opens its gates this year for 36 days of horseracing starting July 27^th and running through Labor Day.  There will be more than $10 million on the line in the 45 stakes that include 30 graded and 13 grade 1 events at the Saratoga Racetrack.

Some changes will be seen this season at Saratoga Racetrack.  Opening Day will feature the six furlong, $150,000 grade 2 Adirondack, replacing the Schuylerville.  On the second day, the new $150,000 Saratoga Special will take the place of the Sanford.  Both races are for two year olds and are six furlong races.

To honor last year’s passing of Hall of Fame trainer P.G. Johnson, the Saratoga Racetrack will run a $65,000 mile and a sixteenth race for two year old fillies named the P.G. Johnson on September 2^nd.  Its counterpart, Will Anticipation, will be held the following day for colts and geldings. 

Saratoga Racetrack will host the Travers Stakes again on August 27^th.   The oldest major stakes race for three year olds, the Travers Stakes will celebrate its 136^th running, making it the oldest major stakes race for three year olds.  The $1 million Travers Stakes is a Grade 1 meet, and is the centerpiece of Saratoga Racetrack’s schedule.  The mile and a quarter race will again attract the top jockeys and horses, keeping this years event on par with the exciting history of the Travers Stakes.
