NHL Playoff Betting Odds: Phoenix Coyotes vs Chicago Blackhawks

Still holding a series advantage, the Phoenix Coyotes will be looking to make up for an overtime loss on Saturday night and eliminate the Chicago Blackhawks when the clubs meet once again in NHL playoff betting action on Monday.

Chicago won Game 5 of the series by a score of 2-1 in extra time on Saturday, which was the fifth straight overtime contest in the best-of-seven set. Having trailed 3-1 in the series heading into that game, Chicago is now down a more manageable 3-2 to Phoenix.

Mike Smith faced 38 shots for the Coyotes on Saturday night, stopping 36 of them in the losing cause. Blackhawks counterpart Corey Crawford wasn't as busy, needing to block just 18 of 19 Phoenix shots to record the victory for his club.

Jonathan Toews scored the winner in overtime in Game 5, with Nick Leddy netting the Blackhawks' first goal of the contest midway through the third period. Gilbert Brule opened the scoring for the Coyotes with his first marker of the playoffs in the second period.

Phoenix had put themselves into position to close out the series on Saturday with a pair of 3-2 overtime wins in Games 3 and 4 last Tuesday and Thursday night. The Coyotes also won Game 1 by a 3-2 score in OT, with the Hawks getting their other win (4-3 in OT) in Game 2 of the series.

Overall the Coyotes are now 6-4 in their past 10 games against the Blackhawks dating back to late last season, and totals bettors have seen the OVER/UNDER go 3-6-1 in the last 10 matchups between the clubs.

On the 2012 Stanley Cup odds market the Coyotes were at 16/1 on the odds to win the Stanley Cup heading into Sunday's action, with the Blackhawks just behind them on that list at 18/1.

Coyotes forward Raffi Torres won't be in the lineup for his team on Monday, as he's been handed a 25-game suspension by the league for his hit on Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa; Hossa remains out indefinitely.
