Fresh off a thrilling victory in Game 2 of the 2017 World Series, the Houston Astros will attempt to take advantage of their home field advantage as they resume hostilities against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 which is set to be broadcasted Friday night on the Fox network and live from Minute Maid Field in Houston. The Astros swept the Dodgers in three games when the last two clubs met in Houston back in 2015.

The Dodgers, who entered the series with just one loss in eight games in the playoff, maintained their winning form in the opener with the help of the fabulous performance of Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw who shut down the mighty Houston attack with just a run on three hits and 13 strikeouts in seven innings. Before long however, it was just a matter of time for the Astros to unleash their potency at the plate and they responded in Game 2.

After the two teams exchanged homeruns in the first five innings, the slugfest emerged with the Dodgers taking a 3-1 lead in the 6th with a Corey Seager long ball but the Astros were not about to fade into the night as they capped a comeback by uncorking four homeruns and eventually winning a wild game 7-6 in 11 innings. The Astros are 2-5 on the road but have not lost at home in six playoff games in which they have outscored their opponents 31-7.

RH Yu Darvish (10-12, 3.86 ERA - 2-0, 1.59 ERA) will look to stay perfect in the postseason as he gets the nod for the Dodgers while RH Lance McCullers (7-4, 4.25 ERA - 0-0 2.08 ERA) will make his second playoff start as he looks to give the Astros a 2-1 series’ edge.

Darvish has been sharp in his two postseason starts in which he allowed a combined two runs on eight hits with 14 strikeouts in 11 1/3 innings and 2 wins. The 31-year old faced the Astros twice this regular season and finished with a 1-1 record but was efficient in the win by limiting Houston to just a run on one hit and a season-high 12 strikeouts in 7 frames back in June. The Japan native is 5-5 with a 3.44 ERA in 14-career starts against the Astros.

Although he has never won a game, McCullers has excelled in the postseason as he has compiled a 2.33 ERA in two starts and two appearances as a reliever. The 24-year was splendid in the ALCS against the Yankees when he limited New York to a mere run across three hits in ten innings in two trips to the mound. The Florida native didn’t factor in the decision in his lone start against the Dodgers back in 2015.
