The LSU Tigers are a perfect 5-0 on the season, but they're going the wrong way in the rankings thanks to their unimpressive wins over the past two weeks. LSU will be looking to put forth a better effort on Saturday as they take on another SEC school ranked in the Top 10 the Florida Gators. LSU is a 3-point favorite on Bovada Sportsbook.
LSU started the season well with wins over North Texas (41-14), Washington (41-3), and Idaho (63-14), but they had to squeak out a 12-10 win over Auburn in Week 4 and then almost suffered a disaster against lowly Towson in a 38-22 home victory last week.
That has LSU at 5-0 SU but just 2-3 against the spread on the year, and they're now down to fourth in the AP Top 25 poll behind Alabama, Oregon, and Florida State.
Against Towson last time out Tigers quarterback Zach Mettenberger went 15 of 26 for 238 yards passing with two touchdowns and one interception, while Michael Ford ran for 76 yards and one score on his 11 carries in the contest.
The Gators moved up from No. 11 to No. 10 in the AP Top 25 over the weekend with a 38-0 win over Kentucky that put them at 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS on the season. Jeff Driskel went 18 of 27 for 203 yards for Florida in that game with one touchdown and one interception.
LSU blasted Florida 41-11 at home when the two schools last met last season, easily covering the 14-point spread on the NCAA Las Vegas Football Odds at Bovada Sportsbook in an OVER result. Overall the Tigers are 3-2 SU and 2-2-1 ATS in the last five meetings between the teams, with the OVER/UNDER going 4-1 for totals bettors in those matchups.
Kickoff for the LSU/Florida game on Saturday is set for 3:30pm ET. The updated NCAA College Football Futures Odds at Bovada Sportsbook have the Tigers at 5/1 on the odds to win the 2013 BCS National Championship this season, with the Gators at 30/1 odds on that list.
