A pair of victories by the slimmest of margins has put the Euro 2012 championship chalk on the brink of advancing to the knockout stage, as Germany prepares to face underdog Denmark on Sunday afternoon (2:45 pm Eastern) in Group B action on the Euro 2012 Las Vegas Odds at Lviv, Ukraine.
Two first-half goals from towering striker Mario Gomez provided the winning margin on the Euro 2012 Las Vegas Odds for the Germans as they defeated the Netherlands 2-1 in a tense encounter on Wednesday between the rival sides, giving Germany six points and sole possession of first place atop the Group of Death heading into Sunday’s decisive match.
That result followed closely on the heels of Germany’s tournament-opening 1-0 victory over Portugal, in which Gomez buried the only goal of the match midway through the second half. Holger Badstuber and Jerome Boateng were both cautioned during the game, and Boateng was additionally booked late in Wednesday’s match against the Netherlands, meaning he will miss Sunday’s date with Denmark.
Meanwhile, the plucky Danes opened their European championship bid with an exciting effort against Holland, riding an early strike from Michael Krohn-Dehli right to the finish in a 1-0 upset victory before falling 3-2 to Portugal in dramatic fashion on Wednesday.
After a shaky start, Nicklas Bendtner pulled Denmark level at 2-2 with a pair of goals before conceding the winner to Portugal just three minutes from time. Simon Poulsen, William Kvist, Jakob Poulsen and Lars Jacobsen have each been booked so far.
