LA Clippers Look to Sweep Series Versus New York
Knicks: 27-42 (11-24 V)
Clippers: 41-29 (22-11 H)
When: 10:30 PM ET, Monday, March 20, 2017
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California
TV: TNT, MSG
The Los Angeles Clippers will attempt to keep their winning form and notch a second consecutive victory as they prepare to host the New York Knicks in a non-conference showdown set to be staged on Monday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. This will be the second and last meeting between the two clubs. The Clippers took the first game 119-115 back on February 8 in New York.
It was the Knicks’ ninth consecutive losses to the Clippers which dates back to February 2013. The game featured the now infamous squabble between ex-Knick player Charles Oakley and owner James Dolan who had his posse eject the once popular player. He since has been banned from the Madison Square Garden but that ban has since been lifted. The Clippers erased a seven-point third quarter deficit with Blake Griffin leading the charge with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the game by the way.
The Clippers are 14.5 games behind the Golden State Warriors in the Pacific Division but are more focused on the Western Conference standings as they sit fifth 1.5 games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the West. New York is 12th in the East 7.5 games behind the Detroit Pistons for the last spot for a postseason invite. With 13 games remaining on the calendar, their chances are all but gone barring a miracle.
The Knicks begin a four-game road trip starting in Los Angeles which will end on Saturday in San Antonio. They will have it tough with tilts against the Clippers, Utah and the Spurs before returning to New York to meet the Pistons. The Knicks’ chances at making the postseason is practically a fait accompli since they’ve lost four of their last five games with two of them at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets. This is not a typo, I assure you.
The Clippers were riding on a three-game losing skid when they righted the ship with a resounding 108-78 pounding of the East leaders Cleveland Cavaliers back on Saturday. It was Cleveland’s lowest offensive output of the season. Understandably, you could attribute the fact of the Cavaliers’ meagre production to Lebron James and Kyrie Irving sitting that game out. Griffin led the Clippers with 23 points, 8 boards and 4 dimes.

Los Angeles won its last outing, a 108-78 result against the Cavaliers on March 18. The Clippers covered in that game as a -14-point favorite, while the 186 combined points took the game UNDER the total.
The Knicks were a 121-110 loser in their most recent outing at home against the Nets. They failed to cover the -5-point spread as favorites, while the total score (231) made winners of OVER bettors.

In their last seven games against the Knicks, the Clippers have won all seven and covered the numbers in six of those contests. To lose twice to the Nets is a disgrace and that proves the Knicks have probably giving up on their season and I have no problems with the Clippers overpowering them tonight. Take LA Clippers -11 and the Under 217.
