Pouliot rifled a shot over the glove of Jhonas Enroth in the fifth round, handing the Swedish netminder his first loss in six shootouts.
Tyler Seguin, Brad Marchand and captain Zdeno Chara scored goals for Boston, which twice erased two-goal deficits to match its longest winning streak since winning 10 straight from Dec. 12, 2008 to Jan. 1, 2009.
Reigning Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas made 31 saves and turned aside all five attempts in the shootout to extend his personal winning streak to seven games.
Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff and Thomas Vanek scored power-play goals and rookie T.J. Brennan had his first career tally for Buffalo, which dropped a point behind Northeast Division co-leaders Boston and Toronto.
After Paul Gaustad and Milan Lucic brawled in the opening 90 seconds - a result of the latter flattening netminder Ryan Miller in the last meeting - the Sabres jumped on Boston with first-period tallies by Ehrhoff and Vanek.
The Bruins battled back from 2-0 and 3-1 deficits and have outscored the opposition 36-8 in the second and third periods of the winning streak.
Upcoming games for both teams
Buffalo will play their next game on the road against Columbus. The Sabres have a W/L % of .500 after a win and .667 after a loss.
Boston will play their next game at home against Detroit. The Bruins have a W/L % of .692 after a win and .571 after a loss.
