The Los Angeles Dodgers will attempt to stay perfect in the postseason while taking an imposing two-game lead as they resume hostilities against the defending World Series Champions Chicago Cubs in Game 2 of the NLCS with the showdown set to be broadcasted Sunday night on TBS at 7:38 p.m. ET and live from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. The Dodgers have now won four straight games with a 5-2 win in the opener against the Cubs and are a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs this season.

The Dodgers looked a tad rusty out of the gate in the opener as they failed to collect a single hit in the first four innings against Cubs starter Jose Quintana. Meanwhile the Cubs had stayed patient against ace Clayton Kershaw but eventually got to the 18-game winner with Albert Almora Jr. sending a Kershaw offering deep left with a man on base to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead in the top of the frame. But the team that won 104 games this year suddenly showed signs of life in the ensuing inning.

This 2017 version of the Dodgers is certainly not the one that went up in flames losing in six games against the Cubs last season. Depth, patience and power have branded the LA dwellers for months now and it showed in the 5th inning when Logan Forsythe and Austin Barnes each collected free passes against Quintana before Yasiel Puig gave LA a pulse by driving in the first Dodger run. The momentum quickly changed in LA’s favor and they maintained their opportunistic ways by rallying for the win.

LH Jon Lester (13-8, 4.33 ERA – 0-0, 1.86 ERA) will look to notch his tenth-career postseason win as he takes the mound in Game 2 of the ALCS for the Cubs while LH Rich Hill (12-8, 3.32 ERA – 0-0, 4.50 ERA) will look to put the Dodgers ahead 2-0 in the series as he takes his turn.

Despite being winless in his two appearances on the mound, Lester has been nothing short of superb in his two outings. The 33-year old has allowed a combined two runs on just three hits in 9 2/3 innings which is good for a 1.86 ERA in a start and a relief stint against the Nationals. Lester is 9-7 with an excellent 2.57 ERA in 20-career postseason starts. In all, the Tacoma native is 2-3 with a 3.89 ERA in seven-career starts against Los Angeles.

Hill didn’t factor in the decision in his lone start in the NLDS. The 37-year old yielded two runs across three hits with four strikeouts in four innings in the Dodgers’ 8-5 victory over the Diamondbacks a week ago. Hill was stellar in the month of September as he carried a 3-2 record with 3 quality starts and an impressive 1.86 ERA in five starts during the month. The Boston native will make his first-career start against the Cubs.

Mybookie Sportsbook has the Dodgers favorites at 160-moneyline with the total sitting at 7½.

The Dodgers have not lost at Chavez Ravine in their last seven games and have scored almost 8 runs a game during that stretch. Hill is known for his steadiness and rarely allows the big innings and will not play into the Cubs’ hands in Game 2. Like most games in the NL playoffs, look for the starters to make early exits and for the Dodgers to dominate late with their superior bullpen. Dodgers 6, Cubs 3
