NCAA 2018 Basketball Bracket Preview: Things to Know about the Team’s Selection

Ready for the dance? On selection Sunday, the 68 teams have been revealed and the matchups are locked in as the road to San Antonio begins on Tuesday with the First Four matches occupying the first two days before the madness officially starts on Thursday. So, were there any big surprise after the 68 teams were announced?

As projected the No. 1 seeds were granted to Villanova in the East, Virginia in the South, Xavier in the West and Kansas in the Midwest. However, they were a couple of schools, who were left out of the big dance, which includes twentieth-ranked Saint Mary’s, Baylor, Louisville, Notre Dame, USC, Oklahoma State and Penn State to name a few.

These snubs meant that teams like Syracuse, Alabama, Oklahoma and Arizona State, who all had losing records in conference play this season, were handed a free pass for the tournament. It won’t matter for these four teams as they are clearly not expected to make any waves in this tournament. Villanova is the odds-on favorite at +450 to win the Championship, thanks to Bovada Sportsbook, followed by Virginia +500 and Duke +650.
