Last Sunday night the Redskins pulled off one of the most impressive wins of the week when they throttled the Raiders at home 27-10 on Sunday Night Football. Now they get to prove that was no fluke when they take to the road to face another AFC West team thought to be in the early Super Bowl conversation, the Kansas City Chiefs.

How impressive was last week’s win? Consider that the Redskins outgained the Raiders 472-128. In Oakland’s first two games of the season they did not turn the ball over once or allow a sack and had 22 and 21 first downs against the Titans and the Jets.

Against Washington they had three turnovers, four sacks and seven first downs total. They also held onto the ball for all of 21:54.

That was about as impressive a performance for this underrated defense as one could imagine and now they get another chance against the team that’s probably turned the most heads offensively in this young season.

Kansas City behind the marvelous play of rookie RB Kareen Hunt and MVP like performance of QB Alex Smith have been on fire. Through three games Smith has seven touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception while completing 77.4% of his passes. The knock on Smith is that he does not have a strong arm, yet he’s completed 9.2 yards per attempt and 11.9 yards per completion. That right there is Aaron Rodgers type territory.

And it certainly helps that Hunt is running roughshod over the league with 401 yards on the ground and has 137 receiving yards on just nine catches (15.2 yards per reception). That kind of performance is softening the defense and then Smith has been able to find both Tyreek Hill (16-253-2) and Travis Kelce (14-144-1) with great frequency.

Last week the Chiefs went on the road and beat the Chargers 24-10. That might not be saying much since that’s an 0-4 team, but they had already beaten the Patriots in New England and the Eagles to open the season. That is why this team is showing up at the top of the power rankings of most pundits after three games.

The Redskins are 8th averaging 373.7 YPG and 14th averaging 23.7 PPG through three games. They are 5th allowing 272 PPG and tied for 9th allowing 20 PPG.

The Chiefs are 3rd averaging 397.3 YPG and 3rd averaging 31 PPG through three games. They are 28th allowing 369 PPG and 7th allowing 19 PPG.

Bovada has the Chiefs listed as 7-point favorites and the game's total is sitting at 49½ according to MyBookie.

On the NFL Football Moneyline Odds at BetOnline Chiefs are the Favorite at -300.

In their last action, Kansas City was a 24-10 winner on the road against the Chargers. They covered the -3-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (34) was profitable news for UNDER bettors.

Last time out for Washington, they were a 27-10 winner as they battled the Raiders at home. The Redskins covered in the match as a +3.5-point underdog, while 37 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

Washington Redskins vs. Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football Las Vegas Odds & Trends

Washington:
Washington is 12-5 ATS in its last 17 games
The total has gone OVER in 17 of Washington's last 24 games
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Washington's last 6 games

Kansas City:
Current Streak: won 3 straight games.
Kansas City is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games
Kansas City is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Kansas City's last 6 games

Next up:
Washington home to San Francisco Sunday, October 15
Kansas City at Houston Sunday, October 8

The result:
Kansas City are -7 favorites and are playing at home with one of the best homefield advantages. That spread indicates to me through that the Redskins are not getting enough respect for what they’ve accomplished through three games. That defense is good and so is the offensive line. Look for a close finish and a possible straight up upset. The Pick: Chiefs 27-24.
