Analysis:
The former San Diego Chargers will officially play their first game as the Los Angeles Chargers when they get ready to meet the Denver Broncos in an AFC West showdown with the clash set to be staged Monday night at Sports Authority Field in Denver. The Chargers have a new home and head coach in Anthony Lynn and will attempt to make the postseason for the first time since 2013 when they lost to Broncos in the Divisional Playoffs.

The Broncos also have new head coach in Vance Joseph and will look to make it back into the postseason since they won it all back in 2015. They failed to make it past the regular season since 2010 when they finished with a 9-7 record last season. Both division rivals split their two-game series winning their contest on their respective home soil. The Broncos had swept the series two straight year before losing in San Diego last October.

If the Broncos have any designs of making it back in the postseason, quarterback Trevor Siemian will need to improve his play but it won’t be easy with glaring holes in the offensive line and it remains to be seen if it will get better with the signing of OT Menelik Watson and G Ronald Geary. QB Paxton Lynch has more upside than Siemian but has struggled in the three games he played in last year. Lynch wriggled with his accuracy but has a cannon of an arm and is mobile so if he can pinpoint his targets he could be called upon if Siemian falters out of the gate.

The Chargers’ offensive line was marred by the injury bug last season and quarterback Phillip Rivers suffered the consequences as he supplied his worst season as a pro. The Chargers addressed the situation by adding some bulk to the troubled unit and Rivers should have the opportunity to stay on his feet instead of visiting the ground like he did on numerous occasions last season. Rivers also didn’t have his favorite weapon on hand as WR Keenan Allen suffered a season-ending injury in the opening week but is slated to return this year along with Mike Williams who was selected seventh overall in this year’s draft.

Bovada has the Broncos listed as 3-point favorites and the game's total is sitting at 43 according to MyBookie.

On the NFL Football Moneyline Odds at BetOnline Broncos are the Favorite at -159.

Last time out for San Diego, they were a 37-27 loser as they battled the Chiefs at home. The Chargers failed to cover in the match as a +5.5-point underdog, while 64 combined points moved the game OVER for totals bettors.
