MNF Betting Odds & Liev Jackson Free Picks and Parlays: Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals

Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals

Cowboys: 1-1-0 (0-1-0 V)
Cardinals: 1-1-0 (0-0-0 H)
When: 8:30 PM ET, Monday, September 25, 2017
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
TV: ESPN

Last week the Denver Broncos decided to put the ball in Dak Prescott’s hands, putting extra tacklers in the box, forcing the young QB to beat them through the air. He was not up to the task, having one of his worst days as a pro, throwing the ball 50 times, completing 30 for just 238 yards. He was intercepted twice, sacked twice and Von Miller and company put a dent in the narrative that the Cowboys have the best offensive line in football.

Yet Prescott’s day was much better than RB Ezekiel Elliott who accumulated eight yards on nine carries and was caught on film, hands on hips after one of Prescott’s interceptions, effectively giving up on the play.

Last year, after an opening day loss to the Giants, Prescott did not go through much adversity as the team racked up the wins. This year, the offense looks flat through two games and the Broncos might have exposed to the rest of the NFL how to beat this team.

The Prescott to Dez Bryant chemistry is still a work in progress and until the two can add that big play dimension that forces defenses to adjust, points may be hard to come by for this team.

And that is bad news as the defense also struggled last week in the 42-17 smackdown. The good news is that at least they have been able to pressure the QB some. Demarcus Lawrence is tied for the sack lead with four after two weeks. But CB Orlando Scandrick might be the most important person on the team as he’s leading a contingent of rookie cornerbacks and low level free agent pickups onto the backfield. He broke his hand against the Giants in week one and was sorely missed last week.

He is expected back this week and will play with a cast, and to what effect is still a mystery.

They’ll be taking on a Cardinals team that is also 1-1 after they escaped with a 16-13 OT win at Indianapolis on Sunday. Monday’s game is their home opener.

The Cardinals first lead of the game came on the last play of the game as Phil Dawson drilled a 30 yarder. The team trailed 13-3 with 11:42 left in the fourth quarter before they put up 13 unanswered points for the win.
QB Carson Palmer was able to complete some of the big plays that a Bruce Arians offense is famous for throwing for 332 yards on 19 completions. JJ Nelson led the way with a 5-120-1 day and Jaron Brown had a 4-73 day.

Future hall of famer Larry Fitzgerald might be showing his age as the 34-year old has just nine catches for 95 yards through two games.

Bovada has the Cowboys listed as 3½-point favorites and the game's total is sitting at 46½ according to MyBookie.

Last time out for Arizona, they were a 16-13 winner as they battled the Colts on the road. The Cardinals failed to cover in the match as a -6.5-point favorite, while 29 combined points moved the game UNDER for totals bettors.

In their last action, Dallas was a 42-17 loser on the road against the Broncos. They failed to cover the -2.5-point spread as favorites, while the combined score (59) was profitable news for OVER bettors.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Arizona Cardinals MNF Betting Odds & Trends

Dallas:
Dallas is 2-7 ATS in its last 9 games
Dallas is 14-4 SU in its last 18 games
Dallas is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road

Arizona:
Arizona is 3-9 ATS in its last 12 games
The total has gone OVER in 8 of Arizona's last 9 games
Arizona is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 games at home

Next up:
Dallas home to Los Angeles Sunday, October 1
Arizona home to San Francisco Sunday, October 1

The result:
Dallas are -3.5 road favorites in this one. Historically this team has not fared well in Arizona and I see them having problems containing the Cardinals passing game here. They are 1-4 ATS in their last five in Arizona and 1-7 straight up. I think that trend continues Monday. The Pick: Cards 30-24.
