After a brutal loss on Saturday that saw their hopes to make the postseason for the first time since 2011 vanished, the Milwaukee Brewers will look to end their season on a high note as they get ready for the finale of their season against the St. Louis Cardinals with the NL Central showdown set to be staged Sunday afternoon at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The Brewers leads the season series 10-8 over their division rivals.

The Brewers needed to sweep the Cardinals and for Colorado to lose its last two games to the Dodgers which will have force the two teams to meet in a tie-breaker but that event never materialize with the Brewers losing 7-6 to the Cardinals on Saturday. Had the Brewers won, the Rockies would have had the tough task to beat Clayton Kershaw Saturday even though the ace would have seen limited action since he will prepare for the division championship.

The Brewers’ loss means that the Rockies have claimed the second wild-card spot and will play Arizona in the wild-card game on Wednesday. What’s even more excruciating for the Brewers, is the way they lost their game Saturday in which they squandered a six-run lead. Leading by two in the eighth, reliever Anthony Swarzak gave up a two-run single that tied the game and a go-ahead single that sealed the Brewers’ fate.

Brewers RH Aaron Wilkerson (0-0, 8.10 ERA) With the Brewers out of contention, Wilkerson is getting the start in place of Zach Davies, who finishes the season with a 17-9 record and 3.90 ERA.

Cardinals RH Jack Flaherty (0-1, 6.06) Flaherty is moving from the bullpen to start in place of Carlos Martinez, who was scratched after the Brewers were eliminated Saturday.

Mybookie Sportsbook has the Cardinals favorites at 160-moneyline with the total sitting at 8½.

MLB Runline Odds at BetOnline the Cardinals were favored by -1½ (+140)

Pitching Matchup:
