A rematch nearly two years in the making will finally play out this Saturday night when IBF Light Middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage (31-4, 18 KO’s) defends the title he took from his opponent Cory Spinks (39-6, 11 KO’s) back in 2010. Bet on the boxing bout with Bovada Sportsbook.
It's their first meeting since Bundrage scored a fifth-round TKO over Spinks as a heavy underdog, and he has since defended that title against Sechew Powell. He will need to cut off the ring and bully Spinks the way he did in the first fight. He will also hold a mental edge over him with the beatdown win in the initial meeting.
Spinks has been one of the best fighters in the world in his weight class for seven years. His slick boxing skills have guided him to two world titles and he will be looking to utilize them for a third on Saturday night.
At 34 years old it’s safe to say that Spinks’ best days may be behind him, but it’s Bundrage who is the older fighter at 39. Somehow Bundrage seems the fresher of the two; he only fights once a year while Spinks has been on the scene for a long time.
Their first fight was in front of a Spinks hometown crowd but the rematch will be fought on neutral ground at Indio, California, so no edge should come into play as far as the venue is concerned.
If you like Spinks in the rematch his best chances to win will come via decision. He hasn’t had a KO win since 2001 and was never known for power at any point in his career. Bundrage’s best chance will come from the power in his hands for a KO or TKO win, likely before the tenth round.
