The 2012 Irish Open will be played in Northern Ireland for the first time since the 1950s this week, and Northern Ireland native Rory McIlroy has been listed as the favorite on the Golf Odds to Win The 2012 Irish Open at Bovada Sportsbook to claim the event on his native soil.
McIlroy is listed as the 6/1 favorite to get the win at Royal Portrush this weekend; last year at Killarney McIlroy ended up in a tie for 34th place, finishing 12 strokes back of winner Simon Dyson, and 11 strokes behind second-place finisher Richard Green.
And McIlroy didn't fare well at the U.S. Open two weeks ago either, shooting rounds of 77 and 73 over the first two days to miss the cut at the major event.
Graeme McDowell is next at 9/1 odds behind McIlroy to win the Irish Open this week, with Padraig Harrington at 12/1, and Ross Fisher at 16/1. Fisher won this tournament back in 2010, while Harrington picked up the win at the event in 2007.
Nicolas Colsaerts, Paul Lawrie, and Francesco Molinari are all then at 25/1 odds, with Keegan Bradley at 28/1, Chris Wood at 30/1, and Branden Grace and Richard Sterne joining Dyson at 33/1 odds. Green is back at 66/1 odds to win the Irish Open this week, with last year's third-place finisher Stephen Gallacher even farther back at 80/1 odds.
Shane Lowry, who won the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009, is at 66/1 on the golf odds at Bovada Sportsbook to pull off that feat once again this week, while 2008 winner Richard Finch is an even more lucrative longshot of 150/1 odds to claim the trophy for a second time.
