The Story:
The shaky 7th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats will face their toughest test yet this season and will look to keep a perfect record as they get ready to lock horns with the fourth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks in a non-conference showdown with the clash set to be slated Tuesday night on ESPN at 9:30 p.m. ET and live from the United Center in Chicago. Both storied basketball programs lost in the Elite Eight in last year’s NCAA Tournament.

The two schools met twice in the past two seasons with the Jayhawks winning both games. Kansas won 90-84 at home back in 2016 as a 5.5-point favorite and upset the Wildcats last January when they beat Kentucky 79-73 in Lexington as a 7-point dark horse. The Jayhawks enter this huge showdown as a 4½-point favorite, according to BetOnline Sportsbook, with the total sitting at 156 points.

The Wildcats have wobbled through their first two games winning by a combined 19 points while being favored by a total of 32.5 points. Kentucky trailed at the half against Utah Valley and were down by as many as 12 points early in the second half before using an 18-0 run to defeat the Wolverines last Friday. They needed to hold on for dear life in their latest matchup against Vermont as the Catamounts came close to tying the game but came up short in a 73-69 Kentucky win.

This will be the Wildcats’ third game in five nights while the Jayhawks have benefited from a 3-day rest after beating the Tennessee State Tigers 92-56 on Friday. The Jayhawks easily covered the 27-point spread as favorites. Six Jayhawk players scored in double-digits in the win with junior guard Lagerald Vick leading the way with 23 points and 5 rebounds. The Jayhawks were lethal from the field as they shot 60 percent and were 12-for-28 from downtown.

BetOnline has the Kentucky listed as 4½-point favorites and the game's total open at 156.
