Aspiring Heavyweights will headline another free televised UFC card this weekend when Travis Browne faces Antonio Silva at UFC on FX 5. Welterweights dominate the main card when Jake Ellenberger faces Jay Hieron and Josh Neer battles Justin Edwards.
Current action available on the main event at Bovada Sportsbook has Browne handicapped as a -225 favorite. He is undefeated in 14 fights and will be looking to make a statement with a win over a very big and skilled opponent.
Silva has dropped two straight bouts and is looking to discover where, if at all, he belongs in the UFC Heavyweight rankings. Currently a +175 underdog, “Bigfoot” could offer a good upset payday if he can find himself on top of Browne early in the fight.
Ellenberger looks to get his career back on track following a KO loss to Martin Kampman in June. He’s expected to be too strong for Hieron and is currently a -375 favorite to get back into the win column.
Hieron has only suffered one split decision loss to Bellator champ Ben Askren in his last 12 fights. He will be making his UFC debut against one of the best in the division and will need to really bring it if he’s going to pay out on the current +285 option.
The Lightweight undercard fight between Thiago Tavares and Dennis Hallman is the other fight with action available at Bovada Sportsbook. Tavares has cost as much as -260, but action has driven the price down to the current -240 odds.
Hallman is a veteran who’s coming off a submission win over John Makdessi last December. As the current +190 underdog he will need to stay away from the ground game and wear down his opponent with striking and Octagon control.
