Auto Racing Betting & Liev Jackson Picks: NASCAR Heads to Bristol For The Food City 500

After a week off for Easter, the NASCAR schedule resumes this weekend in Bristol Tennessee. A few things to note about the Food City 500 is that this is shortest track on the circuit. Racers can complete a lap in just 15 seconds, which makes it one of the most challenging of them all, considering the amount of turning involved. Starting position might also be as important here as on any other track.

What’s more, given the small track size, the odds for accidents are about as high as anywhere.

Kyle Busch (+600) is the co-favorite to win this race and is tied for the most wins on this track with five. But he hasn’t won since the track was redesigned in 2012. At the same time that may be mostly due to bad luck. He does have the second highest driver rating and led the most number of laps over the last four races here.

Kyle Larson (+650) is the other favorite and is leading the driver’s standings after seven races. He has five top-five finishes thus far and ended up second in the last race two weeks ago in Texas. Larson is also the pole sitter.

Chase Elliott (+850) is still looking for his first career win in his second season, and it should come any race now. He is second overall in the standings with three top-five and five top-ten finishes so far. He also starts in second place.

Joey Logano (+600) is quietly putting together an excellent season with four top-five and six top-ten finishes so far. He’s another driver still looking for his first win, and with two wins on this track since 2014, this might be the weekend to get it done.

Martin Truex Jr. (+850) is another driver with a great track record on this track. He’s led the third most laps among active drivers at Bristol with 316 and he’s starting in third place

Kevin Harvick (7-1) like Busch has been great on this course and is the defending champion. He has the highest driver rating and led the second most number of laps at Bristol since joining Stewart-Haas. But going against him this year is that he’s starting in the ten spot.

Kurt Busch (+2000) could be a great upset pick this week. He has made a habit of come out of nowhere over the past few seasons to get all the way to the top of the podium. He did it at Daytona this year and Bristol is a track he’s won five times. The last time however was in 2011.

The Picks:

Favorite #1: Kyle Busch gets back to his winning ways at Bristol for his first victory of the season.

Favorite #2: Elliott finally gets that first career win.

Upset Pick:

  • Kurt Busch takes advantage of a crashed filled day and pulls off the surprise win.
