The Story

The Toronto Raptors suffered their first setback of the season on Friday after they had enjoyed their best start in franchise history by winning their first five games of the campaign. They conclude their four-game road trip tonight when they face the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena. This is the first of four meetings this season between the two Eastern Conference rivals.

The game opens a season-longest seven-game homestand for the Heat, with the Raptors the only 2014-15 playoff team seven among the opponents Miami split a two-game road trip with a 90-87 loss at Indiana on Friday, as Dwyane Wade capped a season-low nine-point effort with a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Toronto trailed by 10 points after one quarter Wednesday before storming back for a 103-98 win at Oklahoma City to open 5-0 for the first time. The club overcame a 15-point first quarter Friday, but was outscored 28-18 in the fourth while suffering a 92-87 loss at Orlando.

The game marks the 12th time the Raptors have faced Chris Bosh since 2010, when he left Toronto as a free agent to the Heat. The Raptors have never defeated Miami when Bosh plays. DeMar DeRozan is the lone player remaining from Bosh's time in Toronto.

The Raptors went 2-1 against the Heat last season, with the teams splitting the two games at American Airlines Arena . The Heat had won 10 in a row from Toronto in Miami until dropping last season's final meeting, a 107-104 loss on April 11 which crippled the Heat's playoff chances.

Bovada has the Heat listed as -2.5 point favorites and the game's total is sitting at 190.5 according to MyBookie.ag

The Statistics:
The Raptors remain a tough defensive team as they are seventh in defensive efficiency points (points allowed per 100 possessions). Their 95 points allowed per game is sixth in the league and they’ve out-rebounded their opponents in all six games for a plus-49 margin.

Toronto shot just 23 percent in the first half versus Orlando and finished at a season-low 34.9 percent overall. The Raptors also have shot 15 for 54 (27.8 percent) from 3-point range on the trip after going 5 for 23 on Friday. Kyle Lowry, DeMarre Carroll and Luis Scola went a combined 12 for 30 (30.0 percent) against the Magic. Lowry has gone 11 for 30 over his last two games, while Carroll is 8 for 33 on the road swing.

The Heat has allowed an average of 90.3 points on 40.4 percent shooting in their last four. They also rank among the league's leaders in defending the 3-point line, limiting opponents to 28.6 percent. DeRozan has an opportunity this season to pass Bosh as the team’s all-time leader for games started with 497 and Bosh and DeRozan rank first and third respectively among the Raptors’ all-time scoring leaders.

The Incentive:
Beating Bosh for the first time while dropping Miami below the .500 mark certainly will serve as a tonic for the Raptors before returning home.

The result:
Toronto rebounds from first loss of season in convincing fashion..
